1928 "The Power of Silence" Lobby CardItem
: 1928 Lobby Card advertising the silent film "The Power of Silence" (!), starring Belle Bennett (has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame) and Virginia Pearson (from The Phantom of the Opera w/ Lon Chaney, Sr.). Due to the storyline, director (Wallace Worsley, who'd directed Lon Chaney in The Hunchback of Notre Dame), and Cinematographer (L. Guy Wilky, who'd worked with the DeMille brothers), I believe "The Power of Silence" to be an early example of Film Noir. Ships rolled in a tube.

Background
: The Power of Silence is a Mystery film directed by Wallace Worsley, and written by Fanny Hatton, Frederic Hatton, and Frances Hyland, released on October 20 of 1928 in the USA, starring Belle Bennett, John Westwood, Ena Gregory, Anders Randolf, John St. Polis and Virginia Pearson. The plot has to do with a mother who remains silent at her own murder trial. The actual murderer is her daughter in law, and she wants to spare her son the grief he’d have if he knew the truth about his wife. Worsley was friends with Lon Chaney and directed The Hunchback of Notre Dame. The Power of Silence was the last film he directed. The star, Belle Bennett, has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Her most famous movie was Stella Dallas. The cinematographer or director of photography was L. Guy Wilky, who’d worked with Cecil B. DeMille (Manslaughter) and William C. DeMille (Locked Doors). The actress, Virginia Pearson, had some other films to her credit including The Phantom of the Opera w/ Lon Chaney, Sr. and The Wizard of Oz (both from 1925).
