DESCRIPTION: “The well-preserved onion-domed church reflects the old Russian influence found in Kodiak. The actual mooring rings and stone wharves once used by Russian can still be seen.” It was built in 1945 as a replacement to a previous building that burnt in 1943. The Russian Orthodox presence in Kodiak dates from 1794, not long after the settlement’s founding.
CONDITION: Unused; never mailed.
Minor corner and edge wear. Soiling and age tanning. Very Good condition
