  • Condition: This re-release of the original 1932 BIRD OF PARADISE movie poster as a French Grande 1932 original movie poster is breathtaking, despite a few flaws. The fold lines are still faintly visible and in a strange way do not seem obtrusive or out of place, almost as if they are part of the "design". There are several short, minor wrinkles throughout the poster but the poster generally lays very flat and smooth. There is a slight rip in the word "DE" on the bottom third of the poster but you have to look for it; the rip has been repaired and no paper is missing. The linen edges are frayed (stringy) which can and does occur with linen backing. That said, the edges are generally straight with some slight wrinkling and a very small smudge at the bottom middle edge on the border. The reverse is generally clean. There are no pin holes, no obtrusive tape or tape residue, no soiling, and no loss of paper or color. The colors are spectacular, rich and deep. Please review the photos carefully.

    This is the Original (1sh) movie poster
    BIRD OF PARADISE
    .  It was released in 1932 as a FRENCH GRANDE original movie poster by RKO Pictures.   RKO had released the movie that same year and had also released an American version of the original movie poster which has different artwork than this FRENCH GRANDE.  This poster is not a reprint nor a reproduction.   The movie stars
    Dolores del Rio, Joel McCrea
    , John Halliday, Richard 'Skeets' Gallagher, Bert Roach, and Lon Chaney Jr.  It was directed by King Vidor.
    Artwork is by M. Fiora.
    This semi-restored movie poster is Rolled and measures 46" x 62.5".   And it is linen-backed making it immediately ready for framing and display.
    The poster had originally been Folded and the fold marks are still visible, but they are faint and when and if noticed surprisingly look as if they are part of the poster's original design.    Most original movie posters pre-1985 are Folded.  This is not considered a flaw or a defect.  The poster is now Rolled and will be shipped Rolled.
    This original movie poster is graded C8  Very Fine.
    Original movie posters are graded as follows from the top down: C10 (Mint), C9 (Near Mint), C8 (Very Fine), C7 (Fine/Very Fine), C6 (Fine or Very Good), C5 (Good to Very Good), C4 (Good), etc.  It is difficult to find any pre-1985 original movie posters graded C10 (Mint).
    Prior to restoration the poster was graded C7 Fine/Very Fine.
    The colors are amazingly rich, deep, and strong.  The artwork by Fiora is superb and captivating.  The flaw that do exist - minor wrinkles, faint fold lines, fraying at the edge of the linen - in no way distract obtrusively from the stunning image of the poster.  And once framed properly, these flaws will be further and significantly be minimized and barely noticeable - if at all.
