  • Condition: This over 70-year old original movie poster still has a very presentable appearance. There is moderate edge wear and some loss of paper along the edges. Separation at many of the folds/creases and several holes (loss of paper) is present. There is some staining on the poster and some pen touch up marks in the folds. The bleedthrough from the reverse of the poster is from an ink stamp on the reverse, where on the reverse there is also some (white) tape on the fold lines and a little writing. That said, the overall main image is still quite striking. Please review the photos carefully.

    This is the Original (1sh) movie poster
    BLACKMAIL
    , Style C, starring Edward G. Robinson, Ruth Hussey, Gene Lockhart, and  Bob Watson.  This original movie poster was used by
    MGM
    to promote this movie when it was released in 1939.  It is not a reprint nor a reproduction.
    This unrestored movie poster is Folded and measures 27" x 41".
    Most original movie posters pre-1985 are Folded.  This is not considered a flaw or defect.
    This original movie poster is graded C6.0, Fine.
    Original movie posters are graded as follows from the top down: C10 (Mint), C9 (Near Mint), C8 (Very Fine), C7 (Fine/Very Fine), C6 (Fine or Very Good), C5 (Good to Very Good), etc.  It is difficult to find any pre-1985 original movie posters graded C10 (Mint).  And especially difficult to find pre-1940 original movie posters that way, or even Near Mint or Very Fine!  For its condition of C6 and the aforementioned flaws, this movie poster still has excellent color and definition on the main image and background (see photos).   Linen backing of this movie poster would definitely alleviate many of the aforementioned flaws and increase its value and investment value.
