  • Modification Description: Restored and linen backed.
  • Size: 27" x 41" ; with linen it is 28.75" x 42.25"
  • Condition: This original restored and linen backed movie poster is simply beautiful with strong colors and images. Post restoration there remains only a few minor, generally unobtrusive, flaws. There are 5 to 6 tiny (1/16" - 1/32") white spots at the top left in the blue ocean area. Near that there are 3 to 4 tiny (1/32") spots in the yellow are near the names of the countries. Both of these look like production flaws. These spots are truly unobtrusive. There is one black smudge (1/8") at the top right before the name "HENRY". There is a small faint smudge (1/4") to the left of the poster in the big red letter "D" in "DARK". There are no pin holes, no tears, and no tape or tape residue. There is no loss of paper or color. There is no separation of the paper anywhere. The linen edges are excellent. The poster has a low gloss. It is a very clean and colorful poster reday for immediate framing and display. Please review the photos carefully.

    This is the Original (1sh) movie poster
    DARK SANDS
    .  It was used by
    Record Pictures
    to promote this movie when it was released in 1938.  It is not a reprint nor a reproduction.  The movie stars Paul Robeson, Princess Kouka, Henry Wilcoxon, Wallace Ford, John Laurie, and James Carew.  It was directed by Thornton Freeland.
    This restored movie poster is Rolled and linen backed and measures 27" x 41".  With linen backing it fully measures 28.75" x 42.25".
    Prior to restoration the poster had been Folded.  Most original movie posters pre-1985 are Folded.  This is not considered a flaw or a defect.
    This original movie poster is graded C8.5 Very Fine to Near Mint.
    This is the poster's post-restoration grade.
    Original movie posters are graded as follows from the top down: C10 (Mint), C9 (Near Mint), C8 (Very Fine), C7 (Fine/Very Fine), C6 (Fine or Very Good), C5 (Good to Very Good), C4 (Good), etc.
    Prior to restoration the poster was graded C6, Fine.
    Restoration corrected  minor tears, paper loss, stains, pinholes, edge and fold wear, and some fold separation. There was light green paint along the lower horizontal fold.  After restoration, the poster now generally appears flawless.  The colors are superb and the detail excellent.  Once framed and displayed,

    will make for a beautiful display mixing art and real life pictures of the movie into a stunning image.
