    Original Republic Pictures One Sheet Poster (27x41) for Episode 1 of the B. Reeves Eason and Joseph Kane adventure science fiction serial, DARKEST AFRICA (1936) starring Clyde Beatty, Manuel King, and Elaine Shepard. Clyde Beatty (1903-1965) joined the circus as a cage cleaner as a teen and became famous as a lion tamer and animal trainer. He also was a circus impresario who owned his own show that later merged with the Cole Bros. Circus to form the Clyde Beatty-Cole Bros. Circus. In this 15-episode serial, Beatty goes to Africa to rescue the Goddess of Joba, who is being held against her will by the high priest. This is the first serial released by the newly formed Republic Pictures, and posters of this early serial are exceptionally rare. This stunning example has restoration with colored pencils to missing cross-fold paper as well as minor border and corner chipping. Linen-backed, this original one sheet poster is in very good to fine condition.
