    MGM Original U.S. Insert Poster (14x36) for the Victor Seastrom film THE DIVINE WOMAN (1928) starring Greta Garbo, Lars Hanson, Lowell Sherman, Polly Moran, Dorothy Cumming, and Johnny Mack Brown. Here is a poster for a film that has been lost, a late silent film of the great Greta Garbo. The movie was based on a play, STARLIGHT, by Gladys Unger. Doris Keane had played the role on Broadway. The story concerns a poor French country girl who leaves her home and travels to Paris to become an actress. She soon finds success on the stage and is courted by two men. One is a passionate young actor and the other in an older man, a wealthy producer. Only nine minutes of the film - a short section that was discovered in a Moscow archive - and a 45 second clip that someone found has survived. Maybe a print of the film will surface, but as it stands this Garbo movie is unknown to modern audiences. This insert poster was undoubtedly used in a theater.
