    Garretson, SOUTH DAKOTA - Palisades - 1910: Garretson is a city in Minnehaha County, South Dakota, United States. The city had a population estimated at 1,207 in 2012 by the United States Census Bureau. The city was named for A.S. Garretson, a banker. Garretson is home to Devil's Gulch, the site where Jesse James escaped a posse after robbing the First National Bank in Northfield, Minnesota. Palisades State Park is also near Garretson. Palisades State Park is a state park of South Dakota, USA, featuring cliffs and rock formations eroded out of pink Sioux Quartzite. The park is located just south of Garretson, 10 miles (16 km) off Interstate 90. At only 157 acres (64 ha), it is South Dakota's second-smallest state park.
