  • Condition: This original movie Window Card exhibits a very nice, clear main image with great color and amazing detail of the images. The flaws that exist are obtrusive to the appearance of the Window Card, or at least one of the three flaws is obtrusive. That obtrusive flaw is the overall soiling on the Window Card. There is heavy soiling along the top, right side, and bottom right corner extending from the border to about (on average) 3" to 5" inwards into the image area. There is also lighter soiling at the other areas of the Window Card, with very little in the main image area. The second flaw is a repaired tear (1/2") along the left border near the top and there is tape/tape residue at the top right corner and along the top border left of center. These later two flaws are not that obtrusive. There are no pin holes and no loss of paper or color. Amazingly, the main image appears and is relatively clean, with sharp images and great color. Low gloss. Please review the photos carefully.

    Description

This is the Original (1sh) 1934 Window Card
    HIPS, HIPS, HOORAY
    .  It was used by
    RKO
to promote this movie when it was released in 1934.  It is not a reprint nor a reproduction.  The movie stars
Bert Wheeler, Robert Woolsey, Ruth Etting
, Thelma Todd, Dorothy Lee, George Meeker, Phyllis Barry, and Spencer Charters. It was directed by Mark Sandrich
This unrestored Window Card comes Flat, and measures 14" x 22".
It has never been rolled or Folded.  It is on heavy stock paper.  The imprint area at the top, usually the top 6 to 8 inches, is always left blank for the local theatres or movie houses to write or print the show times and location of the movie.  In this case, there is printing (SUN MON TUES) in the imprint area.
This original Window Card is graded C7, Fine/Very Fine.
Original movie posters are graded as follows from the top down: C10 (Mint), C9 (Near Mint), C8 (Very Fine), C7 (Fine/Very Fine), C6 (Fine or Very Good), C5 (Good to Very Good), etc.  The main image of this window card is in very good condition and is clear, relatively clean with sharp images.  This Window Card still delivers a strong main image with generally unfettered images.  Although heavy soiling like the soiling on this Window Card would get a C6 (Fine) or C6.5 (Fine Plus) grade (at most), we believe that the strong and relatively clear and clean main image deserves an overall higher grade of  C7.
The Window Card would definitely benefit by being restored.  If you are interested in this item, we can have the Window Card restored for you and we would add the restoration cost to the purchase price of this item.   Or we can refer you to one of the restoration companies that does our restorations at very reasonable prices with very professional and effective results.  We would estimate that restoration could be approximately 0, as the heavy stock paper would require very detailed restoration.  That said, the restoration cost could be somewhat less, but probably not that much more.
That said, this original Window card of
    HIPS, HIPS, HOORAY
will make a striking and very presentable display as is, without restoration.
We feel that the 1934 Window Card of
    HIPS, HIPS, HOORAY
    has excellent
investment value.  The One Sheet (27" x 41") of
    HIPS, HIPS, HOORAY
is modestly valued at around ,000 on the website
    IGUIDE
, so the Window Card has and will have a great relative level of value and appreciation in value over time.  The original 1934 Window Card version of this movie is quite rare.
