Original 20th Century Fox Style B One Sheet Poster (27x41) for the Irving Cummings and Malcolm St. Clair historical comedy/drama, HOLLYWOOD CAVALCADE (1939) starring Alice Faye, Don Ameche, and J. Edward Bromberg. The film tells the story of the early days of silent cinema. Former prop boy Mike (Ameche) ÒdiscoversÓ a charming Broadway understudy Molly (Faye) and hires her to star in movies. Mike makes a series of slapstick comedies, all starring Molly and making her a popular silent star. But when Mike tries to transform Molly into a dramatic actress, everything falls apart. Although a Fox film, Warner Bros. is credited with the introduction of talking pictures when Mike watches a scene of Al Jolson in THE JAZZ SINGER (1927). This original one sheet poster is linen-backed on older linen and is in fine to very fine condition.
