    MGM Original Insert Poster (14x36) Folded Fine Plus Condition
    Original MGM Insert poster for the musical film MAYTIME, one of the most famous of the Jeanette MacDonald / Nelson Eddy pairings. The film was directed by Robert Z. Leonard. It also featured John Barrymore, and he is shown on the poster also. MAYTIME was a broadway operetta from 1917. By the time it made it to the silver screen, the film had been filled with classical music and adaptations of classical music as well as music from the MGM studio writers. The movie had been a pet project of Irving Thalberg and was original begun in Technicolor. But when Thalberg died, the project was shelved until it was re-started, this time in black and white (for economic reasons). This example of the poster was theater used and had some fold separation and edge-wear so we decided to have it paperbacked. It has now been restored and looks great.
