No Father to Guide Him
, the 1925 Leo McCarey family comedy short ("'Beat it' Dad! It's his kimono!'"; produced by Hal Roach) starring Charley Chase (primarily remembered as a great silent comedian who appeared in 276 movies, most of them comedy shorts, Chase also directed 140 comedy shorts), Mickey Bennett, Josephine Crowell, Jack Gavin, and Fay Wray. Note that this comedy short included a sequence where Charley Chase dresses as a woman (it was a comedy staple of the silent days for male comics to appear in drag, not as transvestites, but as a form of disguise, and another sequence where Chase loses his bathing suit at the beach and puts a barrel around his middle, and this image was the one chosen for the one-sheet).
