    1905. Stock Company Short Subject. In the early 1900s, Walter Barnsdale and Frank Barnsdale traveled the nation showing their silent short films by "fourwalling" early movie theaters. A great stone litho image of a hobo. The Barnsdales were forgotten pioneers of movies who created their own movies and exhibited them at prisons around the country. Not surprisingly, all of the Barnsdales' movies were morality plays, designed to uplift those who viewed them. In the 1960s one of the brother's son surfaced with multiple examples of several posters his father and uncle had made at the turn of the century (including this one). Those posters are rarely ever seen for sale.
