Condition: This original, restored, Flat movie poster exhibits rich colors with incredible detail of the actors/images on a basically pristine-looking background. The only two Fold lines, horizontal and vertical, are barely visible but only under bright light and very close inspection. There is a 1/8" blackish mark on the right border near the top. There are about 5 to 6 faint marks at the top right corner. There is a 1" thin line in the "M" in "PYGMALION" and faint rub-off in the yellow "M" and "O" in the Title "PYGMALION". Very slight discoloration in the "P" and "A" in the Title. There are several tiny (1/16") dots on the bottom left in the yellow circle. There is slight smudging in the top left corner with faint intermittent marks along the left border. There is very slight wear at the bottom left corner. There are no pin holes, no tears, and no tape or tape residue. There is no soiling. There is no loss of paper or color. On medium stock paper. Please review the photos carefully.

This is the original (1sh) 1938 movie poster
PYGMALION.
It was used to promote the film in theatres when it was released by
MGM
in 1938. This original movie poster is not a reprint nor a reproduction. The movie stars
Leslie Howard, Wendy Hiller, Wilfrid Lawson, Marie Lohr,
Scott Sunderland, Jean Cadell, and David Tree. It was directed by Anthony Asquith.
The movie poster is Flat and
measures 22" x 28".
Normally this is called a Half Sheet. It will be mailed Flat. Being on medium stock paper it is quite sturdy and has stood up well during handling. Prior to restoration, the poster was Folded once horizontally and once vertically. Most original movie posters pre-1985 are Folded. Folding in not considered a defect or a flaw.
This restored movie poster is graded C8.5, Very Fine to Near Mint.
Original movie posters are graded, from the top down, as C10 (Mint), C9 (Near Mint), C8 (Very Fine), C7 (Very Good to Very Fine), C6 (Very Good), C5 (Good to Very Good), etc. It is difficult to find any C10 (Mint) original movie posers pre 1985.
Prior to restoration the poster was graded a C7 Fine/Very Fine. Restoration corrected pinholes at the corners, slight separation at the
fold lines, and a few fold creases.
The poster now displays as very clean, a pristine-looking appearance. That is because all of the above described post-restoration flaws (small marks) are unobtrusive to the appearance of the poster. By "unobtrusive" we mean that the eye is not immediately drawn to these flaws at a normal viewing distance, and to see them one must conduct a very close inspection under bright light.
We believe that the original 1938 Half Sheet movie poster
PYGMALION
has excellent
investment value. This movie is certainly iconic and was a huge success, financially and critically, at the time. In addition, we have not seen too many originals of any size (half Sheet, One Sheet, Lobby Cards, et.) of the 1938 movie
PYGMALION
, although they are possibly out there somewhere. The amazing Very Fine to Near Mint condition also adds to its investment value.
