TARZAN AND THE GREEN GODDESS
, which was used to promote the film in theatres when it was released by
Burrows - Tarzan - Enterprises
in 1938.   It is not a reprint nor a reproduction.  The movie stars
Herman Brix (Bruce Bennett), Ula Holt, Frank Baker, Don Castello, and Jack Mower. It was directed by Edward A. Kull and Wilbur McGaugh.
The movie poster is Rolled and linen backed
and measures 42" x 80.5", in the general size of a Three Sheet.
The poster was previously Folded and in sections.  Almost all original movie posters pre 1985 are Folded.  This is not considered a flaw or defect.   The poster was partially restored and when it was linen backed the sections were permanently put together.
This partially restored movie poster is graded C7.5, or Very Fine Minus  This is the post-restoration grade.
Original movie posters are graded, from the top down, as C10 (Mint), C9 (Near Mint), C8 (Very Fine), C7 (Very Good to Very Fine), C6 (Very Good), C5 (Good to Very Good), etc.  It is difficult to find any C10 (Mint) original movie posers pre 1985.
Prior to restoration and linen backing, the poster was graded a C6 Fine.
Restoration partially corrected issues on the poster that included
tears, slight paper loss, creases, faint image ghosting, smudges, minor stains, edge and fold wear, and some fold separation.  Overall the restoration and linen backing was very successful.  And the flaws that remain, which primarily are the bends, creasing, and tears resulting in tiny sections of paper loss along former Fold lines, are not significantly obtrusive.  In those case where paper has been lost, the linen backing is seen.  The linen backing is very similar in color to the original paper background color of the poster (cream color); thus even where there is minor paper loss the linen color blends into the poster's background paper color.  We also note that in the photos the flash - in some instances - created tiny whitish sections where the paper loss has occurred.  It does not look whitish in looking at it with the naked eye - the flash just accentuated the paper loss with an artificial whitish color seen only in the photos.
This poster is ready to be framed and displayed.  In viewing

even at a short distance, it truly appears flawless.  The stark green Title and lettering set against the cream colored background and the black images is truly one of a kind.   We have rarely, if ever saw this original movie poster in any form - a One Sheet, Lobby Cards, etc.  Thus, we consider it to have significant investment value.  We surmise that this almost 80-yeras old original movie poster will not be found in even some of the most expansive original movie poster collections.
