  • Condition: This original movie Lobby Card exhibits strong, clean colors and detail on a generally unfettered background. The one flaw that is in the image area is a 3" scrap at the bottom left of the Lobby Card that appears as a faint reddish line. It is not obtrusive to the image (i.e. it does not immediately draw your eye to it). There are also 6 pin holes, one each on each right side corner and four along the left side border. There is slight fading of the blue movie warning and logo along the bottom border. There are several very tiny reddish dots (1/32") in and about the Title; for instance there are two tiny dots under the word "IN". There is tape and tape residue on the reverse of the Lobby Card which appears to have been used for hanging the Lobby Card - there are no tears to repair. There are no smudges or soiling and no loss of color or paper (except for that faint thin scrap). The Lobby Card has a low to medium gloss. Please review the photos carefully.

    Description

This is the original (1sh) movie poster
THE MAN THEY COULD NOT HANG.
It was used to promote the film in theatres when it was released by
    Columbia
in 1939.   It is not a reprint nor a reproduction.  The movie stars
    Boris Karloff, Lorna Gray
    , Robert Wilcox, Roger Pryor,
    Don Beddoe
, Ann Doran, Joe De Stefani, and Charles Trowbridge.  It was directed by Nick Grinde.
This unrestored movie Lobby Card measures 11" x 14".
It comes with an unattached stiff cardboard backing.
This original movie Lobby Card is graded C8, Very Fine.
Original movie Lobby Cards are graded as follows from the top down: C10 (Mint), C9 (Near Mint), C8 (Very Fine), C7 (Fine/Very Fine), C6 (Fine or Very Good), C5 (Good to Very Good), C4 (Good), etc.   The Lobby Card has an excellent appearance and is immediately ready for framing and display.  The flaws that are described on this listing do not detract from the appearance of the Lobby Card.  The colors and especially the detail have held up very well and do not appear faded or toned (loss of brilliance of color).
We believe that the original 1939 Lobby Card
THE MAN THEY COULD NOT HANG
has excellent investment value.  The One Sheet movie poster (27" x 41") of this movie (which we also have listed on this site) has been significantly valued, a couple of thousand dollars or so.  Plus we have not seen many, if any, Lobby Cards for
THE MAN THEY COULD NOT HANG
during our assessment and research of this Lobby Card.
We ship using USPS Priority Mail, which for Domestic buyers arrives in 1 to 3 business days.  Both Domestic and International buyers can go to the "See Details" link on this listing across from the Shipping information to determine shipping cost, delivery method, and time to arrive.  However, USPS Media Mail cannot be used for movie posters according to USPS regulations.
If you have any questions, please let me know.  I have been collecting original movie posters for over 30 years.  I understand that buyers, like myself, expect representations of items for sale that are accurate, complete, and truthful.   The photos are of the actual item you will be buying.  We do  not use "stock" photos.  If you are not 100% satisfied, we guarantee a full refund.  No problem.
Thanks for taking a look.  I have a number of other original movie posters and Lobby Cards listed and generally we are listing new items each week.
