  • Condition: This original, restored, and linen backed movie posters exhibits deep rich colors with sharp, excellent detail of the images. The few flaws that exist post restoration are unobtrusive to the appearance of the poster. The prior Fold lines are only barely visible but only under bright light and very close inspection. There is a tiny dot (1/16") on the bottom of the circle in the white section of the circle that encompasses Mr. Lloyd's image. There are several small (1/8") marks in the "L" and "D" in "HAROLD at the top. There are no pin holes, no tears, and no tape or tape residue. There is no soiling or smudges. There is no loss of paper or color. The poster has a low gloss. It appears flawless at a short viewing distance and is eye- catching and beautiful in its simplicity of one of most iconic of silent film stars. Please review the photos carefully.

    This is the original (1sh) movie poster
    THE MILKY WAY
    , which was used to promote the film in theatres when it was released by
    Paramount
    in 1936.   It is a Leader One Press.

    With the boom of 'talkies', studios distributed to the major cities. while the smaller surrounding cities would receive their films on a route normally brought by bus. The normal procedure was to send the film and poster together. Then after the designated time for that theater, the film and poster was packed up and put on the bus to go to the next theater.
    Quite often the poster would never arrive due to being worn out or the previous theater manager 'forgetting' to include it with the film.
    Leader Press, located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, had the idea of supplying an alternative version for theaters.
    They entered into an agreement with several major studios to produce posters with the stipulation that the studio name would not appear on the poster.
    They carried the latest releases and made them available 2 weeks before the movie release, allowing smaller theaters to have a poster to use as a 'Coming Attraction'.
    Completely different artwork was used and the posters were from 3 to 8 colors.
    Leader Press operated from the early 1930s until 1937.

    is not a reprint nor a reproduction.  The movie stars
    Harold Lloyd, Adolphe Menjou
    , Verree Teasdale, Helen Mack, and William Gargan.  It was directed by Leo McCarey.
    The movie poster is Rolled

    and measures 28" x 41".   This poster has been restored and is linen backed.
    With linen backing, the poster measures 30" x 43".  Prior to this it had been Folded.  Almost all original movie posters pre 1985 are Folded.  This is not considered a flaw or defect.
    This restored movie poster is graded C8.5, or Very Fine to Near Mint.
    Original movie posters are graded, from the top down, as C10 (Mint), C9 (Near Mint), C8 (Very Fine), C7 (Very Good to Very Fine), C6 (Very Good), C5 (Good to Very Good), etc.  It is difficult to find any C10 (Mint) original movie posers pre 1985.
    Prior to restoration this poster was graded a C6.5 Fine Plus.
    The restoration corrected edge and fold wear, fold separations, creases, tears, chipping in the borders, minor toning in the borders, and archival tape on the reverse.
    The posters now appears flawless with a striking and uncanny realistic image of Harold Lloyd.  We believe that the original movie poster
