  • Condition: This original movie Window Card displays strong, solid, rich colors with excellent details of the actor's images. The flaws that exist are obtrusive and the ones along the border are more prominent while the main image is amazingly somewhat clean and certainly presentable. There is heavy soiling, some water damage, along all of the borders and some of it intrudes into the main image a few inches, such as at the bottom at "HARRY". There are five 1" tears along the left border with the top 2 intruding (1/2") into the image, but are not that noticeable. There are numerous horizontal creases along the right border and they protrude into the image area by about 3", but again are not overly noticeable. There is a tear/chip in the center (1/4") above the "T" in "THE". There are 4 pin holes - one each in or near each of the corners. There is paper loss (1/4") at the bottom left corner tip. Low gloss. Amazingly, it still has a presentable appearance. Please review the photos carefully.

    This is the Original (1sh) Window Card
    THE SPOILERS
    .  It was used by
    Paramount
    to promote this movie when it was released in 1930.  It is not a reprint nor a reproduction.  The movie stars
    Gary Cooper, Kay Johnson, Betty Compson, William 'Stage' Boyd, Harry Green
    , Slim Summerville, Lloyd Ingraham, James Kirkwood, Oscar Apfel, Knute Erickson, and Jack Trent.  It was directed by Edward Carewe.
    This unrestored Window Card comes Flat, and measures 14" x 22".
    It will be mailed Flat.
    This original Window Card is graded C6 Fine.
    Original Window Cards, like original movie posters, are graded as follows from the top down: C10 (Mint), C9 (Near Mint), C8 (Very Fine), C7 (Fine/Very Fine), C6 (Fine or Very Good), C5 (Good to Very Good), etc.  The soiling and water damage flaws that exist are certainly noticeable and obtrusive, but not overly so to the main image.  And even though the tears on the left border and creases on the right border intrude into the image area, they are not highly visible, but upon inspection they are visible.
    That said, restoration would certainly alleviate most if not all of the above mentioned flaws. Given the level of flaws, we would estimate that restoration costs could be between 0 to 0, but don't hold me to that :).  If the restoration costs were more than that, we would negotiate with you to pick up the restoration costs that exceed 0 or so.  We believe that the restoration costs would be recouped as the value of a restored - say C8 or C8.5 - version of
    THE SPOILERS

    The Window Card, as is, still has a presentable appearance.  And to - maybe - some collectors or fans of this iconic movie, the "aging" flaws that exist tend to lend some authenticity and vintage appeal to the overall appearance of this almost 90-year old Window Card.  That includes the Theatre imprint at the top indicating show times.
