  • Condition: This original, restored, and linen backed movie poster displays a strikingly clean appearance with vivid, bright colors on exceptional, life-like, character images. The few post-restoration flaws that exist are unobtrusive to the appearance of the poster. The prior Fold lines at barely visible but only under bright light and very close inspection. There is some faint smudge marks above the "VYN" in "MELVYN" on the left side center. There are 3 to 4 tiny (1/16") marks on the bottom left corner area. There is slight rub-off around the "Y" in "YOUNG" on the left hand side. There are several small (1/8") marks along the bottom border. There are no pin holes, no tears, and no tape or tape residue. There is no soiling and very minor smudging as described above. There is no loss of paper or color. The poster has a low to medium gloss. The extra large size and beauty of this original movie poster certainly make it a statement piece. Please review the photos carefully.

    This is the Original (1sh) movie poster
    THE TOY WIFE, Style B.
    It was distributed by
    MGM
    in 1938 to promote the movie.   This movie poster is not a reprint nor a reproduction.  The movie stars
    Luise Rainer, Melvyn Douglas, Robert Young, Barbara O'Neil
    , H. B. Warner, Alma Kruger, Walter Kingsford, and Clarence Muse.  It was directed by Richard Thorpe.
    This Restored original movie poster is Rolled and measures 41" x 79", as opposed to a regular one sheet which measures 27" x 41".
    It is referred to as a Three Sheet.  With the linen backing, it measures 43.50" x 81.25".    The poster was original Folded.  Most original movie posters pre-1985 are Folded.  This is not considered a flaw or a defect.
    The original movie poster is graded C8.5 Very Fine to Near Mint.
    Original movie posters are graded as follows: C10 (Mint), C9 (Near Mint), C8 (Very Fine), C7 (Fine/Very Fine), C6 (Fine or Very Good), C5 (Good to Very Good), etc.  It is difficult to find any pre-1985 original movie posters graded C10 (Mint).
    Prior to restoration, the poster was graded a C8 Very Fine.  The restoration corrected
    slight fold separations, edge and fold wear, creases, small tears, and faint image ghosting. Ghost imaging is the unintended reproduction of a faint image (ghost) in another section of the poster due to printing errors or dubious ink transfers.  The poster was also in two sections, as originally printed, and is now one complete Rolled, linen backed original movie poster.
    The restoration was highly successful and produced a beautiful original movie poster that appears pristine.
