Vintage Original Movie Posters From The Capitol Theater Burlington Iowa. Condition is Used. ULTRA RARE!!!! These are the only posters known to exist from the original Capitol Theater in Burlington, Iowa. Any other posters that existed were destroyed during the period that the Capitol theater was closed and abandoned. I personally discovered these posters 5 years ago. Built in 1937, The Capitol theater showed these movies in 1939. The theater was closed in 1977 and sat empty for 35 years. It reopened in 2012. Thats the short story on the history of The Capitol Theater. The posters are in surprisingly good condition considering their age. I have a total of 2 sets of 3 different posters each. Again, these are the only posters that are known to exist. Names on the posters include Boris Karloff, Geraldine Fitzgerald, Humphery Bogart, Betty Grable, Ann Sheridan, and former President of the United States, Dutch Reagan. The nickname from college football that Ronald Reagan used for a very short period of time when starting his acting career. Rare to see in print. These are a memory of days gone by that will probably never be reprinted or replicated. True midwestern Burlington, Iowa history that only 2 people can own as i am keeping a set for myself since I grew up and have lived in and around Burlington most of my life.
