WWI MOVIE POSTER!!
Offered here is one of the most spectacular WWI posters ever offered for sale on the collector's market. It's also one of the rarest too, as this is the single only surviving copy known! It's rarer than most of the other WWI posters out there because it was ONLY made for distribution regionally in Baltimore, where this show took place, and not distributed nationally like most of the other WWI posters that still survive today. The poster was even printed regionally in Baltimore (see photo #2) 100 years ago! Noted illustrator Lloyd Harrison rendered this stark and "explosive" stone lithographed image. Harrison was also hired for other WWI posters issued by the U.S. Government. Another eBay seller is offering reproductions on one of Lloyd's nationally issued Government posters. Here's a link to that listing for reference. If you want to see it

This was quite the attraction back in its day, a full century ago! It was the first time that motion pictures of warfare were seen by the public. The US government sent cameraman overseas to the front in the European war to capture the action. Public interest was as sky high, as you'd expect for such a spectacle. It would be interesting to find out who the live orators were that were part of this show, as they are advertised as "Worlds greatest." If I lived in Baltimore, I'd go to the public library and
research
the newspaper ads and articles for March 30th to find out.
This has always been one of my favorite posters in my movie poster collection. I've had it for over 30 years. In fact, back in the 1990s I reproduced it, and so if you have seen this image, it was of this very example. The poster is in
NearMINT CONDITION!
This 100 year old poster was originally folded. It was archivally Linen-mounted to get the folds out and for preservation only. The folds have all but disappeared. This posters measures
21 and 1/8th x 30 inches. In the printing world, that would be called a 1/2 Sheet [or Half-Sheet].
LINEN-MOUNTING
is an accepted form of poster preservation by the Library of Congress and every Museum in the country. Except for one or two,
every one of the top twenty
0,000.00 and up most expensive selling movie posters
were all linen or paper-mounted
. A lot of advanced poster buyers request and prefer linen-mounted posters because it makes framing and displaying the posters much easier - without the risk of damaging the original. Check out photo #3. The white you see -
beyond that of the poster
- is the white of the Japanese paper lining the linen border margin. You can see how easy it would be to damage the original poster without that extra margin of protection. The backing makes the poster much safer to handle - it GREATLY reduces the risk of damaging the original. This is ready for framing and display!
Buying this poster is ECONOMY PROOF!
Why waste your money in the stock market? It can crash regardless of any decision you make and can even crash regardless of any decision made by the company related to the stock - Leaving you with a near worthless piece of paper that won't inspire anyone! With the purchase of historic documents such as this world-class WWI poster, it doesn't matter what happens to the economy, you'll still have the poster, which can be displayed and enjoyed. The magnificence of art and historic documents have an inherent value that relates to civilization and society. Unless civilization itself crashes then this piece will hold its value, and, if civilization itself crashes - Who'll care about money? This poster is definitely
